TurboFire vs INSANITY

Hey guys and gals and welcome to another comparison article here on PTpioneer! Today I will be talking about Turbofire vs Insanity. A little bit about myself: I am a certified personal trainer through NASM, hold a bachelors degree in exercise science and am an active beach body coach! My biggest passion is fitness and helping those around me achieve their health and fitness goals as well.

I have been getting a lot of questions recently from the clients as well as friends about what the differences are between these two workout programs and which one would be right for them. Overall it depends on what style of training you like to do as well as what your goals are. Let’s jump right into it and see which is better for you, Insanity or Turbofire!

TurboFire vs Insanity: what are the differences?

TurboFire will scorch calories with a combination of kickboxing moves and cardio whereas Insanity is all out war on your body with how intense the cardio is. The differences between both programs depend on your goals. Both of them are great at-home workout products. Either Turbofire or Insanity will change your body for the better.

The biggest three tips in order to be successful with either program.

  1. Purchase either program with a challenge pack. The clients of mine that go through either program on shakeology see significantly better results than those who don’t.
  2. Make sure to sign up with me Tyler Read as your coach (and certified personal trainer) otherwise you will get assigned a random coach that is probably not as qualified, and might not even contact you.   3. Get beach body on demand instead of DVD packages. If I had this when I first started using P90x it would’ve saved me so much money overall over the last 12 years. No more worrying about scratched DVDs or bringing DVDs with you. Also, most people don’t know which program to start out with (and frequently choose the wrong one),  You have access to all of them with beachbody on demand! You have to purchase the equipment for the program separately.

TurboFire vs Insanity: Overview

Turbofire overview

Turbofire is a 90 day program that is instructed by the fitness guru Chalene Johnson! I really like Chalene over all when compared to the majority of instructors for at-home workout products. She is motivating and keeps me entertained for the majority of the time. With Turbofire you will be working out six days a week with a rest day on Sunday. The average workout duration is approximately 45 min. These workouts include exercises that are done resistance bands, a workout mat and weighted gloves are recommended. Overall there are 12 different workouts spread across 10 different DVDs. Turbofire comes with a nutrition guide and a workout calendar to guide you in the right direction. There are three different packages for Turbofire. Each of them come with something slightly different. You can also get the programs on amazon.com but I will not become your personal coach if you choose that option.

  1. The base package comes with the 12 standard routines (and one additional abdominal workout), the class schedule, a quick start guide, the fuel the fire nutrition guide, 24 hour online support, a 90 day money back guarantee if you don’t see the results that you were hoping to see. You also can receive a free Turbo fire tank top if you send in your before and after pictures!
  2. The Turbofire complete system includes everything that the base package did as well as five additional advanced classes, a toning band  with handles and a thigh firming band.
  3. The Turbofire challenge pack combines shakeology nutrition with the Turbofire system so that you could see the best results. I highly recommend this to all of my clients.

Insanity overview

The insanity workout is a 60 day workout program instead of 90. You will be thanking your lucky stars that it is only 60 days because 90 days of this intensity might just kill you. The instructor for the insanity series is Shaun T. Shaun is by far my favorite workout instructor that I have ever had. I think Chalene is awesome as well but for me, Shaun is on a different level. He is the most motivating and fun instructor and there is no wonder that beach body has hired him to do multiple workout products for them. The average length of the workout is 50 min. long and just like Turbofire, you will be performing these six days a week.

The biggest difference between the two is that absolutely no equipment is used for the insanity program besides a comfortable mat for floor exercises. This makes it a great program to bring over to your friends house and do with them. All you need is sufficient space to get started. Insanity also comes with a workout calendar and nutrition guides to follow for the entire program. Overall the diet programs are pretty similar besides the differences with the  recipes. Both programs work extremely well with shakeology. They will both tell you the same things when it comes to what to put in your body and how many calories you consume. You can check out the entire workout by looking at my insanity calendar here.

There are three general options for the Insanity program as well. Let’s talk about them:

  1. The base package includes all 10 workouts  (and one bonus workout), the elites nutrition plan, a fitness guide, the insanity calendar, free online support tools as well as insane results or your money back.
  2. The deluxe package includes everything that the base package did with the addition of an upper body weight did workout, Max interval sports training workout and insane abs workout.
  3. The Insanity challenge pack combines shakeology nutrition with the workouts of insanity. This is the best way to get results from my experience.

TurboFire vs Insanity: who are they meant for?

Who is Turbofire meant for?

Overall Turbofire is meant for people of any fitness level. It is targeted for people that are trying to lose weight and body fat through a combination of cardio and kickboxing. The workouts are extremely fun and challenging but they won’t kill you. Compared to insanity, Turbofire seems a lot easier. There is a lot of dancing that is involved So if you like to move it move it, this could be a great workout program for you.

Overall it is very mild on your joints so even if you are overweight, obese or are coming back from an injury, this program should be fine for you. Turbofire has great modifiers so depending on if in exercise is too easy or too hard, there is somebody performing a easier or harder variation of the same exercise. This is why no matter what exercise level you are at you can perform the workouts.

Who is insanity meant for?

Insanity on the other hand is for people that really want to get pushed to their maximum. This program is even tough for people that are already in good shape. Shaun pushes you harder than any other instructor will ever push you. This is meant for people that have reached a plateau in their fitness and would like to overcome it with some insane exercise routines.

You will definitely see a lot of great results using insanity, but to be honest a lot of people quit before they can see the results because it is that difficult. If you’re just getting started with exercise I recommend starting a program like Turbofire first before moving up to insanity. Another reason why insanity is so difficult is because there are no modifiers. You need to be able to do what Shaun is making you do with no other option. And what he is trying to make you do is pretty dang hard!

TurboFire vs Insanity: The quality of the workouts and results

Both of these programs have a lots of great workout routines with clever new exercises that work extremely well. The biggest difference is the style of exercises, what type you prefer as well as what your goals are. Both are extremely good for losing weight, burning fat, increasing flexibility, toning the muscles and focusing on your core.

There’s a lot more dancing and moving around freely in Turbofire but you still get some great abdominal workouts as well as focus on specific muscle groups. Insanity on the other hand focuses a lot more on resistance body weight training such as push-ups, squats and lunges etc. You will definitely see weight loss results from both of these programs but even more so from insanity due to the fact that you will burn an insane amount of calories.

The Differences in the diet programs

You are not missing out from one program to the next based off of the diet plans. they both recommend as well as discourage similar types of foods. They’re both based around eating clean food that is sugar free, low salt aand low and unhealthy fats. The biggest differences are the recipes that they provide. Besides that, they’re very similar to one another. Both of them work extremely well with shakeology and my clients (and myself) that have seen the best results are when they combined it with shakeology in a challenge pack. TurboFire vs Insanity conclusion: price and overall value

If you love to dance and move around more freely, Turbofire is the program for you. If you like resistance training with your body weight, and if you like to push yourself to the absolute Max, insanity is the program for you.
